The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2020-21 school year:

Master Teachers 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:  The Master Teacher’s primary role is, with the principal, to analyze student data and create and institute an academic achievement plan for the school. Master teachers lead cluster groups and provide demonstration lessons, coaching and team teaching with career teachers. They may also spend, on average, up to two hours per day teaching students. Master teachers collaborate to determine and develop the adoption of learning resources. They are partners with the principal in observing other teachers.     

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Support and inspire teachers and students to be the best.
  • In collaboration with the leadership team, analyze classroom and school-wide student data as the basis for goal setting and weekly coaching.
  • Participate in Leadership Team
  • Plan and implement Cluster professional development.
  • Develop a school improvement plan in collaboration with the Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with career teachers, track student learning outcomes weekly.
  • Oversee planning, facilitation, and follow-up of cluster group meetings.
  • Team teach with colleagues, demonstrate model lessons, and help monitor curriculum.
  • An understanding of the Indiana State Standards and have an ability to support the instructional rigor that aligns to them.
  • Evaluate teacher performance using the NIET Instructional Rubrics and conduct follow-up teacher conferences (both formal and informal).
  • Participate in NIET trainings and become a Certified Evaluator.
  • Participate in specific trainings offered by the district.
  • Attend and participate fully in weekly district professional development meetings that may require Master Teachers to bring evidence of their weekly coaching visits, including teacher and student data.
  • With district training, the ability to utilize SIOP, Special Education, High Ability, and/or other differentiated strategies when planning and implementing quality instruction
  • Provide new teachers differentiated coaching support with classroom management and best practice instruction.
  • Work an expanded calendar year.
  • Performs such other professional job-related tasks as may be assigned at the building/district level.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Highly skilled professional educator
  • Current Indiana Teacher’s License
  • Master’s degree preferred

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels.
  • Belief that all teachers can become highly effective practitioners.
  • Belief that quality instruction is the basis for all student growth and achievement.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience with evidence of outstanding student achievement.
  • Student data that illustrates the teacher’s ability to increase achievement.
  • Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults.

 

WORK CALENDAR:  School year – 184 days per year, plus additional days to work with the leadership team throughout the year; 40 hours per week;

 

SALARY:  Teaching Contract – 184 days per year, plus $9,000.00 stipend
