Aquatics Lifeguard Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE:  An Aquatics Lifeguard Supervisor is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the students and guests using the swimming pool. Major responsibilities are to observe lifeguards on duty, help with the general set up for the Aquatic Center and to enforce regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents at the Aquatics Center in the absence of the Aquatics Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents, including supervision of the lifeguards on duty.  
• Steps in as Lifeguard when needed.
• Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations in a friendly and helpful manner. 
• Follows emergency action plans and procedures established in the event of an emergency. 
• Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas. 
• Inspects facilities for cleanliness; completes general pool cleaning and maintenance duties. 
• Checks in guests and inspects equipment.
• Provides general information on pool operations
• Maintains an acceptable appearance and attitude at all times

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Knowledge of Aquatic equipment and its purpose
• Ability to adapt to the situation at hand
• Ability to work independently
• Possess energy and enthusiasm
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from patrons, or fellow staff

WORK CALENDAR: Aquatics Center is open 50 weeks per year, hours will depend on scheduling and availability, but not to exceed 25 hours per week. Opportunites also available for a 'weekend-only' position.

SALARY:   $14.00 per hour

BENEFITS:  This position is not eligible for benefits.
