Broadcasting and Multimedia Production Instructor
Job Summary
The Broadcasting and Multimedia Production Instructor is responsible for teaching high school students the principles and practices of multimedia production and digital storytelling. The instructor will guide students in developing hands-on skills in multimedia production, including scriptwriting, video editing, sound recording, live streaming, and podcasting. This role fosters creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and career readiness while maintaining high professionalism and industry relevance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons in multimedia production, including video, audio, and digital content creation, aligned with state and district standards.
- Teach students technical skills, including operating cameras, editing software, audio equipment, lighting, and multimedia production tools.
- Introduce students to industry-standard software and multimedia equipment.
- Foster students' creativity and critical thinking through hands-on projects such as producing podcasts, video segments, commercials, and other digital media content.
Program Development
- Manage and oversee the school’s multimedia studio, including scheduling and maintenance of equipment.
- Guide students in producing live or pre-recorded multimedia projects for school events, websites, or local community platforms.
- Collaborate with school administration and external partners to grow the program and maintain industry relevance.
Student Engagement
- Encourage students to explore career opportunities in multimedia production, broadcasting, and related industries.
- Supervise student-led projects, ensuring a balance between creativity and adherence to professional standards.
- Provide individualized support to help students refine their skills and reach their potential.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and program updates.
Professional Growth
- Stay updated on advancements in the multimedia industry and integrate emerging technologies and techniques into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with other educators to enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
- Valid teaching license or ability to obtain a Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification.
- Professional experience in multimedia production or digital media preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in multimedia production techniques and use of industry-standard equipment and software.
- Strong ability to engage and inspire students with diverse learning styles.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a creative classroom environment and foster collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with high school students.
- Familiarity with student competitions, internships, or media partnerships.
- Knowledge of FCC regulations and multimedia production ethics.
Working Conditions
- Classroom, studio, and fieldwork settings.
- May require evening or weekend hours for student projects, events, or broadcasts.
WORK CALENDAR: School year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week
SALARY: Teaching Contract – 184 days
