Strength and Conditioning Specialist
POSITION PURPOSE: Provides programming, leadership, management, and execution for strength, conditioning, fitness, agility, plyometrics, linear speed, and nutrition for GHS students participating in physical development classes, after school programs, and off-season programs for GHS student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for leadership and the effective execution of all activities and programs offered in the GHS weight room.
- Schedules, supervises, manages, and maintains the GHS weight room, and all the equipment within it.
- Designs and implements programming for Physical Development classes and teachers.
- Collaborates with the GHS Athletic Director and all GHS head coaches on the organization and implementation of a year-round strength and conditioning program for all student-athletes which is customized for individual needs, both single and multi-sport athletes.
- Communicates with equipment vendors in scheduling and/or assisting with the maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Keeps an up-to-date inventory of all strength, conditioning, and technology equipment within the GHS weight room.
- Collaborates with the GHS head custodian and Athletic Director to mitigate any safety and security risks.
- Collaborates with the GHS Athletic Director in recommending the purchase of equipment and supplies for the GHS weight room.
- Collaborates with the GHS training team (consisting of the team doctor and trainers), coaches, and parents to assist with rehabilitation plans for injured student-athletes.
- Collaborates and communicates with the GHS Athletic Director to maintain a consistent strength and conditioning philosophy and culture for all student-athletes.
- Provides professional growth opportunities and instruction for all Goshen Community Schools coaches and students.
- Establishes high expectations and a winning culture that students using the weight room will be expected to meet.
- Follows IHSAA and Goshen Community Schools rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Executes a digital record-keeping system for student-athlete testing and evaluation data.
- Tests and rewards strength and performance improvement and maintains display board with up-to-date strength and performance club achievements.
- Maintains certi?cation(s) and attends clinics/professional growth opportunities.
- Attends Goshen High School athletic contests to assess the performance of student-athletes.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Strength and Conditioning and/or Exercise Science.
- Certi?ed Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
QUALIFICATIONS:
WORK CALENDAR: 52 weeks per year; 260 days per year; 40 hours per week
SALARY: Based on Education and Experience
