Virtual Speech Language Pathologist
POSITION PURPOSE: Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing problems by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
• Diagnose and evaluate speech, language and hearing skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors virtually.
• Plan, direct and conduct habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to develop communicative efficiency of individuals with communication delays.
• Administer, score, and interpret specialized speech and language assessments and hearing screenings.
• Use appropriate technology and trouble shoot technology needs.
• Engage students through screen using visual, screen sharing and interactive activities that maintain their interest/attention.
• Modify existing in-person activities for online use and think creatively about delivering these effective therapeutic techniques in virtual setting.
• Secure student work samples, clinical observations via webcam and record reviews to make eligibility.
• Determinations and appropriate programming recommendations.
• Provide counseling and guidance in speech and language development therapy to enhance disabled individuals.
• Review individual files obtaining background information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate online assessment protocols.
• Develop individualized educational plans for students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Conduct online evaluations utilizing online assessment platforms within guidelines established through Article 7.
• Report progress on IEP goals on a quarterly basis.
• Attend/hold case conferences within guidelines established through Article 7.
• Review treatment plans and assess individual performance as it relates to the IEP.
• Maintain records required by law, establishes policy and administrative regulations.
• Attend meetings and conferences to promote professional growth.
• Instruct individuals to monitor their own speech and provide ways to practice skills.
• Serve as consultant for classroom teachers, psychologist, principals, and counselors to promote speech and language development activities in the daily schedule.
• Schedule flexibility and interest in working across time zones.
• Bill Medicaid as eligible for services rendered.
• Maintain confidentiality.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Appropriate certifications by the Indiana Department of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working knowledge/skills/experience with technology-based assessment platforms.
• Working knowledge of software and hardware technology.
• Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
• Ability to troubleshoot technology issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students, parents, and school staff.
• Skills in human relations.
• Ability to plan and organize; good work habits.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations requiring decision making.
• Other qualifications that the Governing Council may require.
WORK CALENDAR: School year; 184 days per year; 40 hours per week

TERMS: Length of year and salary to be determined by the Governing Council. The need for this position will be reviewed annually.
